About 25.8 million people in the United States, or 8.3% of our population, has diabetes, with 215,000 individuals or 0.26% of all people under 20 years of age diagnosed with this chronic condition. And I am one of them. Hi, I’m Holly Mosier, and I’ve been living with type 1 diabetes for 10 years now. I was diagnosed when I was 17, and, since then, exercise and healthy living has been part of my daily routine.
Regular exercise helps control sugar levels in the blood. It also keeps me from gaining weight that can further my condition. I like to go for a run, I play a lot of different sports, and, when I want to de-stress, I go to a corner and do yoga. And I don’t go on any special diets to control my weight. I just see to it that I eat a balanced meal, and make sure that what I eat and do doesn’t make my blood sugar levels flare up or shoot down.
Living with a chronic medical condition like I do is never easy. You are constantly reminded not to ignore your health, as well as to take care of your body. That is why I always make it a point to eat right, exercise regularly, and steer clear from any bad habits like smoking. This doesn’t just keep us healthy, but it also prevents sound bodies from developing different ailments.
I cannot stress enough the importance of practicing a healthy lifestyle, but I hope to keep you aware about different health issues, as well as possible ways to thwart or avert them, through this blog. I will also be bringing you some information into the most effective diet and exercise regimens you might want to try for yourself. With that said, I really hope my blog will make a difference in your lives. Thanks for stopping by!
